ADMA-OPCO (Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company) US34A Pilot Project 2009

Description

This project involves the replacement of an old timber helideck with the XE enhanced safety aluminium pancake. The challenges that we faced were in detailing the design from decades-old hand-drawn blue prints which client provided and in the design of multiple large hatches as the helideck platform is also to be used as a working platform. The hatches were designed as lightweight and single man operated, unless the physical size made that impossible.

The production and trial-fit was completed in our yard before being packed for shipping to Abu Dhabi. Assembly on site will be an all-bolted affair and without hot work for the aluminium portion. As the platform is a single tier structure and the arrangement of the decking is atypical, we had to improvise the supporting structure for the whole platform to be laid out properly for cutting to size and painting of the marking.

The helideck package is currently awaiting on-site assembly.
